Information about networkMaxiVista requires a network connection between the computers. What is a LAN connection?A LAN ('local area network') is the most popular data link between personal computers. In most cases LAN's are established by ethernet cables as the example below:
How do I connect my PCs?
Highest performance is achieved by connecting both PCs with a single Ethernet crossover-cable. What, if my network adapter is already occupied by another connection?
Why does MaxiVista need a network connection?MaxiVista uses a network connection to send the extended screen's contents to the viewer PC. LAN connections are widely available and the data bandwidth, the speed of data going through the wire, is adequate enough to allow quick screen refresh rates.
Please note, that MaxiVista is designed for setups where the computers are sitting directly next to each other, thus it does not work over an internet connection. Will MaxiVista slow down my network?MaxiVista only transfers changing regions between single frames of the secondary display content. Furthermore, the data stream is compressed. You will certainly not recognize any significant network slow down during normal use. Just watch the video demo to get an idea about the performance. Does MaxiVista work over the internet or via VPN networks?MaxiVista does not work over the internet as it is designed for multiple PCs which are located next to each other. To achieve the outstanding performance, the data protocol is optimized for local networks. Local VPN networks may work but due to complexity of VPN configurations, we cannot provide technical support. Additional information about networking
